I think it'll probably be another couple weeks before any third party batteries come out, honestly.

Since MSI can't even seem to get ahold of "official" batteries, it will probably be a long time before spares become available. Wasn't the extra Eee PC battery only announced recently? And the Eee has been around since last year!

Your best bet in the meantime would probably be a universal power station like the Tekkeon MP3450 (http://www.pocketables.net/2008/06/quick-look-tekk.html).

it took awhile after eee release for 3rd party batteries to begin to show up on ebay and that was before the battery shortage took hold so I'd imagine the interval to be even longer for the wind.

Not all batteries are made in the LG factory though., the eee batteries popped up very quick.

Well from what I'm reading online 3rd-party batteries started showing up in March and the EEE 701 was released in most parts of the world in mid-November. So that's around 4 months time.... even if the same length of time applied to the Wind the 3rd party batteries wouldn't start showing up until around November or so.

And those batteries had the incentive of Eee's popularity to even bother. if it's ever going to happen to the Wind it's probably not going to be as soon as 4 months since it's not going to be nearly a big a hit the Eee was.

Yeah I'm sure they could just modify it a bit from the EEE but I'd say MAYBE this fall they'll be out otherwise next spring is more likely for 3rd party batteries. Can never tell with those kinds of things, just whenever the chinese get to them.

I think 3rd party batteries will be here before the official ones.
