Default Why is the EEE 1000H so heavy?

I mean compared to the MSI Wind they have about the same specs and close in battery too, but why is it so heavy? A few things I can think of are:

Bigger touchpad with the multitouch sensors, big fan/heatsink since the EEEs tend to get a little hotter, maybe that ugly hinge that it has, and all the metal parts instead of plastic.

I think the 1000H is getting closer to those full size laptops sporting dual cores and graphics cards.

How much heavier is it? It couldn't be more than .5lb more than the Wind because the entire point of the EEE is mobility..

I was kind of wondering that myself, the 1000H is around 3.2lbs and the Wind is 2.3lbs with the 3 cell. Batteries perhaps or something inside that you can't see.

Battery. Heck yes! A battery is your heaviest component at this size (surpassed by the screen and eventually case as you get larger). Comparing one machine with a 6-cell to another with a 3-cell doesn't make for a level field at all.

I am comparing the weight of the MSI Wind with the 6cell at 2.6 with the EEE 1000H which is at 3.2 pounds. Why the extra weight?

How many can you fit in a small chassis like that? I thought many 1 or 2 but it sounds like there are more than that. lol

lol I don't know depends on if they're Keebler elves or not I'm guessing it's just weight inside the machine along with the batteries.

Apparently the EEE PC 1000H has a 80 gb HDD which makes it heavier compared to the EEE PC 1000 which has a 40 gb solid state drive. The H should stand for HDD.

But that shouldn't make it so much heavier compared to the Wind which also has an 80gb HDD.

Yeah the battery life is suppose to be a bit longer than the Wind isn't it? I think the batteries make up a good amount of weight on these machines.

Maybe asus has overstated their figure and they have a less bright screen.

I haven't read much about the 10" eee. Is it supposed to have better battery life? Better than the 3cell or 6cell MSI?

Absolutely, here's a quote.... "ASUS are claiming up to 7.8hrs courtesy of a larger battery and its “Super Hybrid Engine” technology."
