Best DAP I have owned, hands down, and I have owned nearly two dozen over the years dating back to my original Rio 300. The ibiza can not only access all of your Rhapsody tracks online and stream them via WiFi, you can actually download them to the internal storage on the fly, no computer is needed.
If you haven't heard of this jewel, you're missing out...probably the best kept secret in DAP's, it's available in 4 or 8GB flash models, and 30GB HD models, in various colors. Even has a web browser, Flickr viewer, AOL Videos, etc. There is a thriving community forum for it that is maintained by Varia Mobile, the guys who did the software on the unit for Haier. They are in the forum all the time, helping out with any questions and taking input from users. If you ask for a feature, it will be added to a future firmware release. Very good group, reminds me of how Sling Media was in the early days... Here are the links: The player info: http://www.haieramerica.com/en/ibiza The forum: http://www.ibizarhapsodyforum.com/ |

I've read that when listening to Rhapsody tracks, there is a slight backround hiss.
Can you refute, or confirm this? I like all the options availiable on this unit, but for the price, I want to be sure the sound quality is worth it. Thanks. |

I have not noticed any hiss on Rhapsody tracks, either on my ibiza or on my Sonos system at home. Doesn't mean it's not there, just means that I can't hear it. Rhapsody sounds like a 128k or 192k MP3 to me, which is good enough for all practical purposes...

Oh, definately. I'm certainly not one of those audiophile types. Just wanted to make sure the hiss I read about isn't a major drawback with everyday use.
Thanks for the reply. |

Hiss is not an issue...now I will say that one thing that I notice on Rhapsody channels is the sometimes varying volume of the songs. One might be just right, then the next one is louder, then it may go back to a lower volume. This is not a problem with the ibiza, it also happens with Rhapsody on my Sonos system at home and work, and on the Rhapsody client on my N800. I've gotten used to it, the only time it annoys me a bit is here at work, since I have a retail store.
Can you tell I'm a big Rhapsody fan? Between that and Sirius, I don't have any desire to buy music anymore. My subscriptions get more use than my cable TV service, and they're *much* cheaper. |

They are constantly adding new features, it is probably the best supported device I have ever owned. The newest beta just dropped a few days ago, and they make these available to anyone who wants to try it. BTW - That black square in the middle of the ibiza is a touchpad, just like on a laptop. Makes navigating just as easy as an iPod... |

Yes, you can input text in the browser by scrolling horizontally across a letter bar that pops up when needed. Same thing when you type in an artist or song search in Rhapsody, which you can do directly on the device.
It definitely is an interesting device, and it is very polished. I honestly didn't expect much when I ordered it, but it has far exceeded my expectations. So much so that I haven't used my iPod classic in months. |
