I'm not much of a gamer myself, but Laptoping today noticed that StreamMyGame.com is now advertising support for UMPCs, MIDs, and netboooks.
As long as you have a powerful host PC and strong internet connection, you can stream and play a whole mess of 3D games like WoW, Quake 4, and Crysis on all of these devices (MSI Wind included). The list was taken from UMPC Portal's product database, though, so don't take any unit's inclusion on the list to mean that StreamMyGame was actually tested on it. Worth a look if Solitaire and Minesweeper don't satisfy your UMPC gaming needs. |

Yeah they have clips up on Youtube of people playing Crysis or whatnot on their EEE using the streammygame thing, it looks pretty awesome and helps the lack of 3d power these umpc's have.

I'd imagine there has to be some input lag myself. I don't know really. As long as the Wind or whichever netbook can play some older games without issue on low settings, I'm happy with the gaming performance of it, myself. I know the Laptopmag review mentioned Second Life at slow settings, so I'd imagine that some of the free MMORPGs would work as well. (One of my old favorites I'd forgotten about is Shot-Online, a golf one which would seem to work well on this too.) The HL2 engine is very scalable too, I wonder if Team Fortress 2 or Portal would be possible on low settings. Or Trackmania United maybe on low settings too? I think there's enough potential for gaming to keep one occupied at least.

I use streammygame on my main machine. Now I just need a machine to stream to.
This would effectively eliminate the need for a strong graphics chip since anything that is an application can be used with streammygame.

Yeah and from what I read there wasn't really any input lag. I thought it was awesome they even had it available to use on the PS3 ...with the ps3 controller you could use, with the "paid" version I believe lol

I see this to be very useful for people with mini notebook (Eee) to play via the Internet (connecting to the home server), but I wonder what kind of bandwidth is required.

Yeah people would be in disbelief I'm sure lol Might be a fun thing to do if you just wanna relax on the couch, I like that more than sitting in this chair.

I fancy some COD4 on the sofa relaxing, or even outside.

Yeah I know it wouldn't take much effort to go to the desktop computer and play it but there's just something special about playing it on a mini 10" screen device.

Well with me I find more than often that I would finish a game if it was on a portable machine like the PSP or DS. When you gotta sit in front of a TV to play a game, that's cool and all but sometimes you just don't have any time.

Yeah and with the size of these UMPC's you could take it all over the place easily. I wonder how the battery life will be with the 3 cell while playing games?

Hows it work? does your main PC have to be on?

Your main pc needs to be on and on the network and so does your netbook then you just kinda lan it over using the stream my game, so the pc is doing the processing power and your netbook is just displaying it and commanding the pc, its really quite cool.
